Austin Peay State University, located in Clarksville, Tennessee, last week announced David Sanchez will take over as the university’s new chief information officer.

Sanchez, an information technology professional with nearly three decades of higher education experience, will begin his new role at Austin Peay State University on March 9, according to a university press release, and will provide leadership, oversight and strategic planning for the university’s information technology department as CIO.

“It is Dr. Sanchez’s experience and his ability to move IT projects forward that will help him lead our outstanding information and technology team to the next level,” Mitch Robinson, APSU vice president for finance and administration, said in the release.

Most recently, Sanchez served as CIO for Midwestern State University Texas, overseeing all facets of information technology, including information security, networking, applications, user support, capital projects and academic technology. Before that, Sanchez worked at the University of New Mexico in a range of IT positions.

Sanchez will replace former APSU CIO Judy Molnar, who retired in December after four years at the university.

“I look forward to working with the Austin Peay community to build collaborations and partnerships that will drive innovation and enable creative change across campus,” Sanchez said.
