Washington community college fights ransomware

Centralia Community College's website continues to be inaccessible Friday morning after a ransomware attack. Faculty told local media they detected an attack after files "looked weird" when they logged in on Monday. Many cloud-based services remain unaffected, but the community college took some devices and servers with student information offline to mitigate the attack. Colin Wood reports.

That means folding conversations about accessibility into business practices, panelists said, and discussing how accessibility features like auto-captioning can broadly benefit all students and instructors. New consortium says fonts matter for reading speed

The font a student is used to reading in might not be the one that's best for speed and comprehension, the University of Central Florida's Ben Sawyer told EdScoop. A new consortium on readability, including tech giants Adobe and Google, is working on technology to find the best formatting for each person that can serve as "reading glasses" when reading on digital platforms.
