Reviewing edtech with purpose

To find the time to review edtech, start with narrowing the field, the University of North Carolina's Todd Cherner said on this episode of Cutting EDge. Cherner said that instructors should start with a task or function they want the edtech to accomplish, and then pick a few solutions to try. Overwhelming students with technology is also important to keep in mind, he said. Instructors <a href="https://edscoop.com/faculty-edtech-review-time-survey/">in a recent survey from the College Innovation Network</a> said they need more time to review technology for their classrooms. (Non-Russian) GrubHub bots return to Ohio State campus this fall

GrubHub discontinued its use of food delivery robots from Russian tech company Yandex this spring after Russia invaded Ukraine. The bots are coming back to Ohio State University this fall, this time made by Cartken, a company founded by former Google engineers. GrubHub and OSU tested the robots this spring. Higher ed nearly doubled student information systems spending in 2021

After a five-year spending slide, higher education institutions are amping up spending on student information systems, according to a recent report from the Tambellini Group. The research firm found that spending almost doubled in 2021, especially among four-year public schools which spiked more than 600%. SIS systems, which span all enrollment and application data, are often a heavy lift to replace. Costs can total around $5 million over the first five years for the smallest colleges. Benjamin Freed explains.
