Mobile student ID vendor Transact acquires campus dining app Hangry

Transact announced Wednesday plans to acquire Hangry, a company that develops apps for campus dining and auxiliary services like campus bookstores. Hangry's mobile ordering tools are integrated into Transact already. Transact's CEO said the company plans to build on Hangry's offerings and incorporate more features into Transact's products. NTIA says every state has signed up for a piece of BEAD broadband funds

Every state signed a letter of intent to participate in the $42.45 billion Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment program, according to the NTIA. As part of receiving the money to build out broadband services, states also have to coordinate distributing funds to local governments and regional coalitions. Benjamin Freed has more on StateScoop.

Edtech companies double down on 'intelligent' solutions for data-sharing

Edtech companies Anthology and Liaison both announced products this week designed to help universities manage and analyze student data. Liaison announced a predictive analytics product called "Intelligent Names" which helps target adult learners likely to return to school. Anthology unveiled a strategy called "Anthology Intelligent Experiences," which is guiding how the company develops products that link together data from multiple information systems to provide more insights. Oak Ridge National Lab director to retire in December

Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Thomas Zacharia is retiring after 35 years at the end of 2022. ORNL collaborates with universities on research projects, joint faculty appointments and research opportunities for doctoral students. The lab, which has a $2.5 billion research portfolio, also recently saw its supercomputer named the world's fastest.  Dave Nyczepir reports on FedScoop.
