AI helps institutions strengthen cybersecurity posture, U. Wisconsin CISO says

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are being used by adversaries to improve their attacks, but universities can leverage the same tools to keep their networks safe, the top cybersecurity leader at the University of Wisconsin-Madison said during a virtual event Wednesday. Bob Turner, the university's CISO, said the use of AI and ML can allow higher education institutions to be more responsive to incoming attacks, and gain key insights into where the next targets may be. Biden focus on higher education could help institutions survive pandemic

Georgia State researchers look to disrupt cybercriminal supply chains

A new study from Georgia State University will investigate underground digital marketplaces and the illicit supply chains of virtual goods like credit cards, online identities, cryptocurrency and fraudulent documents. The effort, funded by the National Science Foundation, aims to examine how virtual goods are bought and sold in online marketplaces. Betsy has the details.
