Telepresence robots help nursing students train remotely

Finding a way to safely train nursing students is one of many educational tasks made more difficult by the pandemic, but a new program using robots at the University of Texas at Arlington may prove a viable alternative to in-person training. The university announced this week that through a recent nursing innovation grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board it will expand its fleet of “telepresence robots” to assist nursing students who are training remotely. The robots, which are essentially tablets on wheels, allow remote users to navigate a clinical environment and meet with patients. Colin Wood has more.

U. Arizona launches COVID-19 vaccination website

Following an announcement that its campus will be used to administer COVID-19 vaccines to teachers and child-care workers, the University of Arizona launched a new website last week with information on the process. During the announcement, health experts at the university, which is based in Tucson, said it’s essential the institution aid the surrounding Pima County with its immunization plan. They said quickly vaccinating people against COVID-19, especially those working in education, will help put an end to a pandemic that has disrupted students’ learning for nearly a year. Arizona State hosted drive-in events to help students fill out FAFSAs

Arizona State University hosted several drive-in events to help students fill out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid forms last week, setting up Wi-Fi hotspots and printers in a parking lot where volunteers assisted families in the financial aid application process.
