More cloud services than ever in higher education

Universities and colleges are moving their finance and human capital management systems to the cloud at a quickening pace, according to data published Monday by The Tambellini Group, a higher education advisory and research firm. The rate of increase for institutions selecting systems for finance and human capital more than doubled in 2020 compared to the previous year, the group found. Colin Wood has more.

Educause report finds online learning to be high priority

The coronavirus pandemic prompted higher education experts to turn their attention toward expanding online learning and microcredentialing, according to a new report released Monday by Educause. Higher education leaders and instructors interviewed by Educause reviewed 130 technology practices and identified six as the most crucial to the future. Blended and hybrid course models were rated as the most important as universities sought ways to maintain their operations through the health crisis. Emily Bamforth has the details.


EAB releases new data management platform

The educational technology company EAB announced last week the launch of a new data management platform named Edify, a solution for universities seeking to bring together data scattered across various information systems. The University of Montana is one of the first use cases for the platform, which feeds data into a central portal. The goal is to make the data accessible for education leaders without data backgrounds and collect a wide swath of information to make it easier to solve problems with key issues like enrollment and retention.
