Penn State launches single sign-on platform

Pennsylvania State University last week switched its log-in process for many of its systems to one based on Microsoft Azure’s single sign-on platform, a move designed to strike a balance between security and accessibility. This change, which went live on July 7, affects how the university’s students and staff log on to manage student information, complete coursework online and access workplace systems. Ransomware reaches Virginia Tech

The recent ransomware attack against the software firm Kaseya, which has impacted thousands of organizations worldwide that depend on the company’s network management software, reached Virginia Tech, where IT administrators last week shut down about 600 computers around its Blacksburg, Virginia, campus. According to a notice from the university’s tech division, the affected computers were connected to Kaseya’s VSA software, a platform used by managed service providers, which was targeted by members of the REvil ransomware gang. NGA to target computer science education under new chair

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson said he intends to use the state as an example for computer science education expansion in his new role as National Governors Association chair, according to an announcement made by the organization last week. The association, made up of the governors of 55 states, commonwealths and territories, elected Hutchinson on Thursday. Hutchinson displays computer science education as one of the main points on his administration’s website and used the topic as one of the platforms for his 2014 campaign. Emily has it.
