Ellucian expands edtech platform

The edtech firm Ellucian is expanding its single sign-on and software development platform, Experience, internationally following a domestic launch in April, the company announced Thursday. Ellucian Experience is a digital hub that allows college students to access their grades, connect with advisers and manage financial aid. It’s also extendable via modules that can be created by the other edtech companies Ellucian works with. It’s designed to be used by everybody “from the president to the student” on campus, according to the company, and has been adopted by more than 160 institutions in the U.S. Ryan Johnston has more.

UCLA taps Google Cloud for API project

Application programming interfaces have become increasingly vital for higher education institutions, which often struggle to maintain interoperability between many disparate legacy systems while providing their students a consistent experience across numerous apps. At UCLA, the adoption of Google Cloud's Apigee platform is driving heavy use of APIs: 1 million API calls via Apigee in 2020 have grown to 11 million so far this year, the company claims, as the university advances a campus-wide API project. UW-Green Bay names new CIO

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Tuesday announced that it’s hired Wendy Woodward, the former chief information officer of Wheaton College in Illinois, as its new CIO. Woodward, who started in her new role on July 1, has been tasked with modernizing the university’s IT, aligning efforts with the broader University of Wisconsin system and managing enterprise technology, cybersecurity, IT policies, strategic plans, administrative functions and academic support, according to a university press release.
