MIT students are taking advantage of a new digital ID

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology this week announced that its students have begun more rapidly adopting a new digital identification feature recently added to the institution’s mobile app. In a post on its website, the institution’s Information Systems and Technology division wrote that digital IDs were used for more than 50,000 transactions in September, more than double seen the previous month. The new feature — which allows students, staff and faculty to access buildings, pay for food and complete print jobs — was added to the MIT Atlas mobile app in August. Wiley acquires open access research firm Knowledge Unlatched

Wiley, the multinational publishing company, on Thursday announced it has acquired Knowledge Unlatched, a platform that uses funding from libraries to publish open access research. Wiley is adding Knowledge Unlatched to its research division after the coronavirus pandemic placed a spotlight on the long-standing conversation around making research accessible, as academics, health professionals and the public scrambled for information on the new health threat. Technical issues force California universities to extend application deadlines

The University of California and California State University systems both pushed back their application deadlines by one day to account for technical problems right that occurred just before a Tuesday deadline.
