Ten community colleges to get $40,000 for AI education labs

Ten community colleges will receive $40,000 grants from Intel to build in-person, hybrid or virtual labs for artificial intelligence education, the firm announced Thursday. The announcement is the latest development in Intel’s AI for Workforce program, launched in 2020, which aims to prepare students for the workforce through partnerships with community colleges. U. Washington advises against some IT terms in new inclusive language style guide

The University of Washington recently released an inclusive language style guide for its information technology team, encouraging workers to speak in plain language instead of potentially offensive colloquial phrases or IT terms such as “blacklist” and “grandfathering.” The guide, developed with input from a university-wide advisory committee, IT workers and leadership, is part of UW’s efforts to reassess what terms are used to create “a welcoming environment for learning, research and work,” a university spokesperson wrote in an email. There are more online college programs than ever, rankings show

U.S. News & World Report released its 2022 online program rankings this week, ranking 160 more programs than last year. The all-time high in online programs submitted by colleges and universities for the annual rankings could serve as another indicator of a boom in online learning following the coronavirus pandemic. Colleges and universities submitted 1,733 programs this year — based on programs launched during the 2019-20 school year — up from 1,510 programs last year. Check out the full story on EdScoop.
