Half of college students are stressed out by tech issues

Students are adjusting to online learning but technology challenges persist, according to survey results published yesterday by Educause. Seventy-seven percent of students said they experienced technical issues over the 2021-22 academic year, and 51% of this group reported that such issues caused them to feel stressed. Consistent with findings in 2020, unstable internet connections topped the list of tech problems experienced by students — 64% reported unstable internet and 35% said it caused them stress. Twenty-nine percent of students said their devices had dropped internet connection during class, exams or other activities.   Lindsay McKenzie reports.

George Mason U. launches statewide academic automation community

George Mason University announced last week a new partnership with other Virginia universities to promote robotic process automation in higher education. The new Virginia Academic Robotic Process Automation Community of Practice is led by an existing RPA Initiative. In practice, the automation community is designed to help other institutions to become familiar with RPA, as well as to enhance student experiences. It will be partially funded through 4-VA@Mason, a collaborative research effort between George Mason and seven other state universities. Read more.
