Microsoft says its products blocked more than 15,000 emails each day that targeted the education sector with phony QR codes.

EnTribe CEO Adam Dornbusch also said universities want more control over user-generated content than social media can provide.

Instead of designing seating charts or sign-in sheets, the institution is encouraging students to scan codes that feed information to the health services department.
