Harford Community College in Maryland names a new CIO

Harford Community College, a public college in Bel Air, Maryland, has named a new chief information officer.

Harford Community College, a public college in Bel Air, Maryland, announced that Brian Kraus, who’s held chief information officer roles at California University of Pennsylvania and Volunteer State Community College would start as its new CIO on Monday.

Kraus also served as the director of campus applications at West Virginia University and served as its director of academic systems. According to a press release, he serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Arizona and the University of the Cumberlands. At the latter he teaches courses in project management, information security, computer information systems and business leadership.

“Dr. Kraus served as Associate Vice President/Chief Information Officer at California University of Pennsylvania, where he led a reimplementation of the Banner Student Information System, implemented Slate CRM, modernized surveillance and access technologies, and designed IT strategic and disaster recovery plans,” the release reads. “Other positions he has held include serving as the Chief Information Officer at Volunteer State Community College in Tennessee, the Director of Instructional Technology at Longwood University in Virginia, and the Director of Technology at Argosy University in Florida.”

In his new role, he’s charged with managing the state’s IT systems and developing a strategic plan. In past roles, he dealt with student-facing systems such as Ellucian’s Banner and Salesforce platforms.
