Mercer University promotes IT leader to newly created CIO role
Administrators at Mercer University in Georgia on Wednesday announced they promoted the campus’ executive director of information technology infrastructure services to serve in the newly established position of chief information officer and assistant vice president for information technology.
The university’s new CIO, Charlotte Renee Storey, started at the university as a systems manager after graduating from Mercer University with a degree in computer science in 1997. Since then, she took on roles managing the university’s IT systems.
“I am confident that Charlotte’s extensive experience, proven leadership skills and deep understanding of the university’s mission and needs will be instrumental in shaping the future of Mercer’s Information Technology Division,” James Netherton, the university’s executive vice president for administration and finance, said in a press release. “Her commitment to innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement will serve the university and the IT division well.”
In the new role, Storey is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the university’s IT systems, services and digital strategies.
“This new position allows me to combine my experience with Mercer’s IT landscape and my passion for continuous learning to shape a future-focused and dynamic IT environment,” Storey said in the release. “My goal is to leverage technology as a strategic asset, fostering innovation and collaboration across the university to advance our mission and support the success of our students, faculty and staff.”
