Two former students of the private High Point University in North Carolina are suing the school, a former coach and a vendor after a data breach.

The two students joined a class action lawsuit against the school and Matt Weiss, the former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator and University of Michigan football coach who was indicted in March. He was accused of accessing private data to find “intimate photos and videos” of student athletes. The University of Michigan fired Weiss in 2023.

“Weiss primarily targeted female college athletes,” the indictment read. “He researched and targeted these women based on their school affiliation, athletic history and physical characteristics. His goal was to obtain private photographs and videos never intended to be shared beyond intimate partners.”

Also named in this lawsuit and other related lawsuits is the Pennsylvania software company Keffer Development Solutions, which operates “an electronic medical record and student athlete training system, which stored the personal identifying information (“PII”) and personal health information (“PHI”) of Plaintiffs and Class Members across the country.”
