Indiana University unveils new IT strategic plan, reorganizes technology office
Indiana University on Monday unveiled a new IT strategic plan, indicating a future for the institution that includes responsible AI use, more data integration and “resilient” infrastructure.
In an announcement written by Kendra Ketchum, the university’s chief information officer and vice president for information technology, the university’s new strategy is laid bare. She explained how the university will use technology to become “a more strategic, agile and collaborative partner” and set about “multiplying” impact by “aligning related services, strengthening collaboration across teams, improving accountability and enabling faster, more integrated decision-making.”
The plan includes five key elements: responsible and innovative AI adoption, modern data and integration capabilities, exceptional digital experiences, resilient infrastructure and operational excellence.
The plan explains that to meet these goals the university’s IT department was divided into five divisions: technology operations, strategic services, academic and AI innovation, IT auxiliary services, and an information security office.
“Technology is not simply a service we provide; it’s a strategic tool that advances student success, groundbreaking research and even operational excellence across IU,” the CIO wrote. “Our new structure is designed to be easier to partner with, faster to innovate, stronger in execution and focused on delivering measurable outcomes for the university.”
