The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Centers on Monday announced that a cyberattack last September compromised the personal information of “certain individuals.”

According to a notice posted to the centers’ website, the information compromised includes names, dates of birth, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, government ID numbers, financial account information, health insurance information and medical information, including medical records numbers, billing and claims data and diagnosis and treatment information.

The health centers, which include locations in Lubbock and El Paso, are notifying those who may have been affected. According to Bleeping Computer, the attack potentially exposed the data of 1.4 million patients.

University leaders said the cyberattack occurred between Sept. 17 and Sept. 29. The Interlock ransomware group claimed credit for the attack last October.
