Southern Connecticut State University names new CIO
Southern Connecticut State University last week named Tom Armstrong, former director of strategy and enterprise architecture for the State of Connecticut, as its new chief information officer.

Before joining the university, he held a role as associate vice president for enterprise systems at Fairfield University, where he reportedly developed “a five-year IT plan, upgraded ERP systems, and advanced data governance and student-centered technologies,” according to a university press release.
“His appointment represents an exciting step forward as we continue to enhance technology services and drive innovation to support student success, fiscal responsibility, and institutional excellence,” Lillian Wanjagi, vice president for finance and administration, said in the release.
Armstrong also held roles at PWC, IBM and Deloitte. He holds a master’s degree in cybersecurity from Fairfield University, a master’s degree in information systems from Quinnipiac University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting and management from Georgetown University, according to the release.
