Baylor University to open unique cyber workforce courses

Baylor University and McLennan County Community College in Texas are planning to offer to new cybersecurity courses this summer.
The courses, which are slated to be held at the universities’ Central Texas Cyber Range, are intended to address a national IT skills gap also felt in the Lone Star State.
“Since we are centrally located, we’re a great hub for the region for other entities, either education or industry, to work through to be able to gain this momentum to fill these cyber security jobs,” Jeremy McCormick, an associate professor of computer information systems at McLennan Community College, told KWTX.
McCormick said the courses will be different from other cyber courses in that they’re modular and will be designed to offer students personalized learning experiences. He said they’ll also offer students a chance to receive training during odd hours, offering working professionals opportunity to enroll.
