Clemson University’s vice president for budget, financial planning and analytics is moving into a new role as the university’s first vice president for technology modernization, effective April 22, the university announced on Thursday.

Tyler Saas first joined the university in 2019 and worked to improve transparency with the university’s budget, according to a press release. In the brand new technology modernization position, Saas will be responsible for navigating the evolving nature of information technology and aligning it with the university’s strategic objectives.

“I’m very pleased to have Tyler join the outstanding leadership team and staff of CCIT, to help us address strategic changes in our approach to providing information technology infrastructure and operations in support of Clemson Elevate,” university Chief Information Officer Brian Voss said in the release. “Tyler has developed a collaborative relationship with CCIT staff, and his inquisitive and organized approach to addressing change will be invaluable to our efforts.”

Saas will work closely with Voss and other members of technical staff to address new technology infrastructure and shifts in enterprise operating models. In addition, Saas will serve as the program director for the cloud implementation for the university’s financial and human resources management systems.

Prior to joining the staff at Clemson, Saas worked for Deloitte Consulting as a manager for higher education strategy and analytics, according to a press release. Before working with Deloitte, Saas worked as the director of global treasury operations for Columbia University.
