The online learning provider Coursera plans to add a new AI-powered coaching tool to its platform, the company announced during its annual conference last week.

The tool, called Coursera Coach, will be tested in the coming months, Coursera Chief Operating Officer Shravan Goli wrote in a blog post.

Powered by generative AI, the tool will give students personalized feedback, answer learners’ questions and point them to videos and resources to help them understand concepts, Goli wrote.

In addition to adding AI coaching, Coursera also plans to translate its content into Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Portuguese, Thai and Indonesian in the coming months by “deploying machine learning at scale,” Goli wrote.

Another AI-powered tool, called Coursera Author, which the company plans to test later this year, will aim to help educators reduce the time it takes to build online courses by automatically suggesting course structure plans, relevant readings, assignments and glossaries.
