University of Arizona CIO announces retirement
University of Arizona Chief Information Officer Barry Brummund will retire next month, the school announced Tuesday.
Brummund is credited with completing “a tremendous amount of work,” according to a university press release. This includes “strengthening the university’s cybersecurity culture, optimizing operational efficiency through elastic cloud infrastructure, and enhancing the student digital experience with personalized and unified solutions,” the release states.
“UITS dedicated teams have maintained a world-class university network, supported the supercomputing needs of U of A faculty and expanded access to institutional data,” the release continues. “In addition, UITS has elevated the university’s position as a national and state-wide leader in information technology, winning awards and recognition for the university’s success in providing secure, reliable, efficient, and innovative information technology services.”
Brummund called his time at the university a “privilege.”
“It has been a privilege to work alongside such a talented group of people within UITS and across the university who are committed to serving the institution’s mission,” he said in the release. “I am truly grateful for all that we have achieved together, and I know I am a better person for having had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people. I wish the university continued success in serving the needs of Arizona.”
The university hasn’t yet named a replacement.
