Purdue CIO appointed to new position at university
Purdue University on Thursday announced it’s appointed Chief Information Officer Ian Hyatt to serve as chief of staff to President Mung Chiang beginning on July 1.
Hyatt started as university CIO in June 2021. Christian Theumer, the university’s deputy chief information officer, was named to fill the CIO and vice president for information technology position in an interim capacity, according to a news release.
“I look forward to working closely with President Chiang and the rest of the team to achieve excellence at scale for Purdue and beyond,” wrote Hyatt in a LinkedIn post about his appointment. “The future of Purdue Information Technology remains in good hands with Christian Theumer assuming the role of interim chief information officer and vice president for information technology.”
In November, Hyatt was named Higher Education IT Executive of the Year in the 2023 EdScoop 50 Awards for his work with IT services across the Purdue system, including cybersecurity, end user experience and research services.
The university also announced that Dimitrios Peroulis, who leads Purdue University Online, has been appointed to serve as senior vice president for partnerships and online.
