Learning is not just online, in-person or hybrid anymore — it’s all three, according to a new resource on multimodal learning strategies published Monday by Educause.

The resource pulls together reports, best practices and other materials to help higher ed and IT leaders deliver flexible learning experiences that can cater to all students.

“The adoption of technology is advancing our capacity to offer an increasingly digitized and flexible learning experience for students, which is exciting because this flexibility can support increased access for students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to pursue higher education,” Kathe Pelletier, director of Educause’s teaching and learning program, wrote in an emailed statement.

By being intentional about the design of learning environments, assessments and opportunities, instructors can connect with students and support them better than ever before, said Pelletier. She said is encouraged to see growing recognition that “teaching practices matter.”

A webinar linked to the new resource will take place on May 30 and explore different course design approaches, strategies for technology adoption and techniques to engage faculty.
