University of Cincinnati hosts cybersecurity career fair
A successful career fair at the University of Cincinnati last month drew more than 40 employers and highlighted opportunities in the industry.
A post to the university’s website explained that the College of Cooperative Education and Professional Studies partnered with the Cincinnati chapter of the Information Systems Security Association to host the event, as part of a response to demand from students who were seeking job opportunities.
The University of Cincinnati offers cyber programs through its colleges of engineering and information technology, along with upskilling programs and opportunities at the Ohio Cyber Range Institute.
Employers to attend last month’s event included Kroger, Fifth Third Bank, Cintas, Medpace, Total Quality Logistics, Western & Southern Financial Group, Great American Insurance Group, altafiber, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and UC’s Office of Information Security, according to the university’s post.
“This event was the culmination of an idea we’ve had for over a year,” Erik Alanson, unit head of UC’s information technology co-op program, said in the article. “We felt it was time to give our cybersecurity student population the chance to showcase their aptitude and interest with some of the biggest brands in the region. Partnering with ISSA gave us this platform, and we are so proud of the students that attended, networked, and learned alongside us.”
